Rhode Island Highboy, Maple c. 1776

$0.00

SIZE

6 ft 1” tall; base 38” wide; case is 18” deep

DESCRIPTION
Beautiful figured maple. Unique sharp keeled slipper foot has a projecting “heel” boot-like. A more formal comp in the Yale University RIF archive attributes Rhode Island or Eastern Connecticut. (see last two photos). I could find no comparable examples of this apron or drawer arrangement. The top drawers in each section are faux double drawers— actually single long drawers with the fronts molded to resemble double drawers. All the elements, including molding and other details are fine and delicate. Balanced, elegant form. Beautiful piece. Ex personal collection.

CONDITION
Two Back boards MIA has no impact on function (makes it lighter and easier to set up). All interior drawers/runners were carefully restored for function. Aside from this, all original with no repairs. Please examine the photos carefully. The photos tell the story.
