DESCRIPTION
American scene: Wadsworth Tower, Avon CT. Wood & Son, Burslem. Wood tower was built 1810 by Daniel Wadsworth, the founder of the Wadsworth Atheneum. It was 55 feet tall and had an observation deck that was accessible by 80 steps. It was destroyed by a wind storm in 1840.
