DESCRIPTION
Tentatively identifying this as Caucasian mostly because of weave. Geometric design resembles various south Caucasian textiles such as Karabaugh. The fine and tightly executed single weft foundation may be diagnostic. The maker was proud of his work such that he signed it. The back suggests an older piece. Note also the dominance of what might be called aubergine dye. All in all a beautiful rug in terms of color, balance, and vigor.

CONDITION
Mostly plush throughout. Some minor repair on far end (right corner). Original double selvedge.
