Fine Miniature Master Made Violin Dated 1860

$0.00

SIZE
7” length of body; 4” lower bout; 6 7/8” scale

DESCRIPTION
Pencil signature underside of top table identifies maker Joseph Tiefenbrunner and dates 1860. The Tiefenbrunners were a prominent family of master makers working in Mittenwald during the 19th century. Most miniature violins are crap. However, this one was exceptionally well crafted including details of scroll, F holes, bee-stings and purfling. Beautiful quality pine table with one piece tiger maple back. Beautiful reddish brown oil varnish.

Check out Youtube for video “Repair of a Joseph Tiefenbrunner / Mittenwald 1883 violin 319.” Exceptional full size violin had fake Italian label and similar Tiefenbrunner pencil signature that was discovered during restoration.

CONDITION
Cleated top repair; well executed A-string scroll repair. Otherwise sturdy and good condition.
