SIZE
13” tall; watch face is 53cm
DESCRIPTION
Wonderful set. Both are at least early 19th century and possibly older; English or Continental. The hutch is an amazing example of classical artistry with fine details even on the inside. Carved, gesso, painted, gilded with swags, tassels, lion and sheep-head ornamentation. Lovely original surface and patina. There’s an ancient accession label on the back side of the hutch.
Silver cased verge fusee is also equally opulent and fine. Coin silver case w/ key wind and possibly original key. High domed crystal has cut bullseye in center (hard to see). Classical hand painted dial with a beautiful reclining lady.
Gilded movement winds and works though it runs a bit slow. Probably ought to be cleaned and serviced.
CONDITION
Watch face has wear around winding hole; faint line on the face. Otherwise Very Good. Please see photos.
