DESCRIPTION
It's incredibly rare to find dated Hamadans. You'll never find a clearer, more legible date on a rug. This maker wanted to leave no doubt when the rug was made. The Farsi date is 1325 which translates to 1908 on the lunar calendar... A pretty early date as Hamadans go. Village origin less clear. Consulting Runge, given weave, texture, design-- Savah area is a good guess with Kharaghan Village as a possibility. Beautiful old piece with great natural colors.

CONDITION
We spent a small fortune flood-washing the rug and having both ends and sides repaired, secured, and overcast. We thought the rug was worth the effort. Several low patches (on top the knots) in the dark field but most of the rug is well piled.
