417-23-- Early Mazlaghan/ Savah Village Rug

$0.00

SIZE
4ft 3 x 6 ft 0 in

DESCRIPTION
Parsing Hamadans-- They use "Mazlaghan" as a cover name for anything with this sort of medallion pattern. This sort of beetle border belies a Savah area origin-- possibly Kerder village. Note there is a very subtle patterning in the red field. I think this is an older piece, possibly circa 1900.

CONDITION
Old and well traveled. There is some evidence of moth work if you put your nose on the rug and look closely. Several small areas were nicely repiled. Ends secured.
