14 x 14 (top) x 7" deep
DESCRIPTION
From a midwest estate. circa 1870s Lancaster PA Newspaper. Appears to have been lined and decorated prior to current ocher yellow application. I can find nothing similar in comps. Surmise sewing or storage function. Similar to wallpaper bandbox aside from form and the fact that decoration is freehand painted in manner of fraktur work rather than block-decorated.
Bold and decorative PA Dutch object.
CONDITION
Well used; well loved. Tatty but intact and relatively sturdy. Please see photos.
