DESCRIPTION
Unusual small folk art example. 28 carved animals with charming folk art character. (One horse is grazing). Sliding compartment in the hull on one side possibly designed for stowing animals— tho they are easier stowed under the lid. The windows muntins were made with tiny fragments of cross-hatched straw. Marquetry inlay. Three tiers including lid. All animals stand freely. Likely German manufacture circa early 1900s.

CONDITION
Well loved and much used Three of the animals have old leg repairs. . One window slightly damaged
