Chip-Carved Rack circa 17th/18th century

$0.00

SIZE
Approx 26” long

DESCRIPTION
Elaborately chip carved hardwood (possibly fruitwood) with excellent old color and patina. Wrought iron hooks with finely faceted terminals. Tenons on the ends suggest this was part of a larger piece or built-in. Definitely at least 18th century (if not earlier) Style of the carving suggests post Gothic or Pilgrim Period. {c.f. Dutch Renaissance(?)} Interesting and functional object.

CONDITION
Well traveled but sound and sturdy. Someone mounted modern metal brackets on back to facilitate wall mount.
