DESCRIPTION
Found in North Carolina. Stretcher is yellow pine with quilled script in German. I can't decipher but sitter was identified as Frau Hoffmann, cf., 1808-1886. She appears to be in her 30's and that would date the portrait right around 1840. Flat perspective but beautifully rendered with lovely colors-- especially the blue-green background. Also note finely rendered hair broach and neck fob. Original gold frame.

CONDITION
Small almost invisible chip repair upper left. Two of the stretcher keys replaced.  Otherwise exceptional original condition. Please examine the photos carefully. The photos tell the story.
