VERMONT E. F. PARKER IRON CANDLE LANTERN 1855

$0.00

SIZE
11 1/2 in tall (not including handle)

DESCRIPTION
Similar sheet iron lanterns are  attributed to E F Parker. This one is unusual in that the slide door is a japanned tin sheet embossed EF Parker Patent and dated 1855. So we know this is Elijah Parker,  Proctorsville Vermont. He mananaged to secure a patent based on various improvements.

In his own words: "for making the corners of lantern frames of one piece with the flanges for receiving the glass as a part of the corner. This saved soldering, while it made a stronger corner, and enabled me to make."

This is one of several antique lanterns recently acquired from a fine estate lighting collection.

CONDITION
Well used but very good. The pictures tell the story.
