DESCRIPTION
A nearly identical example shown in Rupert Gentle, "Domestic Metalwork" plate 38 are dated circa 1710. Similar to the more common iron variety having pushups, double wedding bands, and rim hooks-- albeit these have octagonal bases. These are rare things. I have never seen another pair outside the Gentle book. Old museum accession labels on bottom.
