Michaelis notes higher bell shaped base is truncated above the dripcatcher.” Plinth, socket, and tool marks are also quite similar. I’m using this space to amend a literary misconception. After more than 40 years abundantly circulated the Shiffer “Brass Book” has become something of a sacred writ for collectors. However, some statements presented as fact therein are spurious. One such assertion is that thinly turned sticks of the low bell variety were made in Sweden. That statement is false. These and all others like them were made in Nuremberg.

CONDITION
Old effective repairs: around the foot rim to fix small cracks; a hand-tapped round nut was used to shore up the threaded plinth attachment to the base. Please see photos.
