Called pulpit sticks as they were allegedly used by preachers to read their sermons. Allegedly. In any case this is a very fine example of a rare and attractive Georgian candlestick. With Chippendale style thumb push this is an early example of the form.

 Well used but otherwise very good; tight and sturdy.
