Period Spanish Baroque Brass Candlestick c. 17th cent

Period Spanish Baroque Brass Candlestick c. 17th cent
SIZE
20 inches tall.
DESCRIPTION
One of two early sticks acquired from a Spanish collection. The other one is monumentally huge. This one is merely huge; pricket variety; definitely Spanish, possibly dating as early as mid 17th century. This is a unique, amazing, and beautiful piece of European Baroque Period brass-ware. Comprised of several separately cast and turned sections. Exceptional quality metal and fine old patina. These are the sorts of things found mainly in museum collections. In any case-- not something you see everyday on Ebay or anywhere.
CONDITION
When acquired there was a non-thru break under the drip pan which we had professionally stabilized (silver solder-- He was careful not to compromise the overall patina.) The base is peened to the lower plinth. It will twist a bit. But overall this piece is straight, solid, stable, and sturdy. Please call the shop for concise in-hand condition reports.
