Antique American Queen Anne Chair c. 1740
Antique American Queen Anne Chair c. 1740
SIZE
approx 40" tall
DESCRIPTION
A very interesting and beautiful thing. Origin? Somewhat reminiscent of the Gaines chairs of Portsmouth NH. Nearly identical front apron has been documented down the coast in Boston. But detail of seat molding differs and you'd rarely see cherry used in Boston. Maybe something vernacular made somewhere between Boston and Portsmouth? Another clue might be the ravages of wood bore beetles. Suggests it spent some time in Rhode Island. Wherever it came from-- what a gorgeous little chair!
CONDITION
Insect ravages. Front feet restored (among other things). Please examine the photos carefully. The photos tell the story.
